Auto touch up paint and other paint chip repair tips

Think about auto touch up paint? That’s a good idea as only a responsible car owners take care of their beloved automobiles and want them to look awesome! The main problem is to decide if you do really need touch up paint or waxing a car would be enough.

The repair procedure of paint scratches and paint chips are almost the same. Stone chips, scratches left by tree branches and other minor damages look ugly, especially on dark colored cars. First of all you have to determine if the paint chip repair system you are buying is the right auto touch up paint for your vehicle. If you are not sure that the auto touch up paint kit has everything you need, buy separately the following items: small scraper or sandpaper, primer, base coat, plastic objects for removing rust, miniature wire brushes or sanding pads, lacquer and sponge backed sanding pad.

We strongly recommend that when you get your car from the dealers, you also collect a touch up paint of the appropriate color. You can also receive the paint code numbers of your car from their parts department. If you do not know what the paint code number is, just call your local dealer, they should be able to tell you the paint code from the registration number.

You should then check for chips every time you clean your car and touch them in as soon as possible.

To prevent a stone chip damages we do recommend you to use a special plastic films that fits to the most unprotected areas of your car. These plastic films are almost invisible but very strong and protect your car’s fenders, hood and other areas that damaged more often.

Sometimes automotive touch up painting is not a good solution, especially if your car has a lot of micro stone chips or debris. In this case it would be much better to waxing car instead of painting all of these chips and scratches. Colored car wax can do this job better and without any additional efforts. Make sure that the darker version of car wax usually works best. If your automobile is medium red, don’t use the medium red colored car wax, get dark wax instead.
