Thanks for the tips. I have been using automatic car washes a lot lately but there is no comparison to a professional waxing…Automatic car washes have also got a reputation for damaging paintwork as well which is another reason hand washes are so much better.

If you really want to look after your car avoid using the machine washes at all costs. They can really damage the paint work as they are very abrasive – especially bad for older cars…

I also prefer the microfiber clothes because they offer great finish when you are waxing your car. Anytime I use a traditional cloth it will leave swirl marks which is so annoying.

I prefer the microfiber cloths as well. They make my car extra shiny which is really the whole point of the waxing.

Is polishing really advisable every time you clean your vehicle as polish is mildly abrasive. Each time you polish your vehicle you are removing a fraction of the paint coat, which means that if you continually polish you will wear the paint out. Where as wax only coats the surface and protects the paintwork.
